Rocky Mountain House Fire Fighters
As members of the Rocky Mountain House Volunteer Fire Department, we are committed to saving lives and protecting property.

We provide:

  • Fire Suppression
  • Vehicle extrication
  • Water rescue
  • Public fire education
  • Hazardous Materials First Responder

Chronological History of the Rocky
Mountain House Volunteer Fire Department:

1922 - The Rocky Fire Department was founded.
1923 - The Hamlet of Rocky Mountain House received it's first piece of equipment.
1932 - The Village of Rocky Mountain House was given an old 1920 Ford Car which was cut down into a fire vehicle. This unit had a 2 storey wooden ladder, chemical tanks, some hose and water buckets.
1949 - The Town of Rocky Mountain House bought its first new fire truck, a 1949 GMC with 500 gpm pump. It was delivered in May of 1950.
1966 - The Town purchased a new 1967 Fargo Fire truck with a 625 gpm pump.
1972 - Improvement District #10 combined with the Town of Rocky Mountain House fire department, and a new 1976 GMC 625 gpm fire truck was purchased for the Improvement District.
1976 – Rocky Lions Club assisted in the purchase of a set of Hurst “Jaws of Life” rescue tools
1980 - Improvement District #10 purchased a 1980 Ford 1500 gal water truck.
1983 - A new fire hall was built. Also, in 1983 a 1978 Chevrolet Suburban was added to the fleet to serve as a rescue truck.
1992 - The Town and the MD jointly purchased a 1992 GMC Crewcab rescue truck
1993 - A Safe House for kids was built (See Kid's Zone).
1994 - The Town replaced its fire engine with a new Spartan 1050 gpm fire engine.
1996 - The County of Clearwater replaced its fire engine with a new Freightliner fire truck equipped with a 1050 gpm pump.
1999 - Nova donated a 1995 suburban to pull the safe house, serve the Dive Team, and any other related duties.
2001 – The Hurst hydraulic rescue tools were upgraded to a North American 10,000 psi Genesis system.
2002 - A 16’ inflatable boat wit a 40 hp. jet drive was purchased.
2002 - The County of Clearwater replaced its water truck with a new Freightliner 1800 gal water truck.
2003 - The Town purchased an E-One HP-75 Quint equipped with a 2000 gpm pump, 75’ aerial device, and a 8 KV generator.
2003 – The Town and County purchased a Thermal Imaging Camera for the fire department
